Located in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, it is known for its thriving artistic community, progressive mindset, and historically rich renaissance downtown with a booming food and music scene. Surrounded by spectacular natural beauty, there are

abundant opportunities for outdoor activities from mountain hiking and biking to white water rafting and canoeing — in temperate weather, yet with all four seasons! The Asheville Waldorf School  (formerly Azalea Mountain School) became a member of AWSNA at the end of its seventh year; we are rapidly growing into our 10th year with an enrollment of roughly 160 children.

The Asheville Waldorf School will be entering its tenth school year. In the 2020/21 school year, we will be offering multiple parent-child classes, ttwo nursery classes, three kindergartens, and grades First through Seventh/Eighth. Our growth has been consistent, and our class sizes are healthy. The recent expansion allowed us to fill three new Early Childhood classrooms.

The Asheville Waldorf became an associate member of WECAN in 2017 and of AWSNA in 2018. Our organization consists of a cohesive and striving Faculty, a Board of Directors that draws members from both the Parent body and the community, a committed Administration, and a loving and involved community of parents and families.
